Ayana Workman is an African American-Slovene actress, dancer,and writer who was born and raised in New York City. She has a BFA in acting from Mason Gross School of The Arts at Rutgers University. Ayana has worked and studied in Europe including time spent studying at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London.
Through her father and mother, Ayana was exposed to jazz music and avant-garde theater at a young age. She is currently represented by Avalon Artists and is a residential member of Pop Up Theatrics Physical Theatre Company and Theater Futura . Her professional theater debut was in 2012 playing the role of Bahia at the State Theater of Maribor in Slovenia, as a part of the European Cultural Capital Festival 2012.
Ayana has just finished playing Juliet in Shakespeare Theatre Company's production of Romeo and Juliet . This followed her New York Theatre debut playing Juliet in The Public Theatre's Mobile Unit production of Romeo and Juliet.
